Full symphony orchestra, founded in 1988 by its principal conductor Douglas Coombes, with the aim of providing family concerts. The NECO has been the resident orchestra for the annual series of Battle Proms concerts since their inception in 1997 and undertakes general and corporate concerts as well as accompanying choral societies.
