2 main objectives are to meet the requirements of the resident Indian community and to create an informed interest in the culture of India amongst all communities. It has an extensive teaching programme covering languages, dances, music, drama, yoga, etc, and encourages a lasting involvement. The main aim is to build a bridge between east and west. Lectures on Indian culture, art and philosophy, painting, book exhibitions, art exhibitions, dance, music workshops, film shows and lecture demonstrations on art and culture. Non-vegetarian food, alcohol and smoking are prohibited on the premises.
