Born in Innsbruck in 1963, Thomas Larcher grew up in Austrian Tyrol. He studied composition and piano at the Vienna Musikhocschule and in 1994 he founded the festival 'Klangspuren', now an international renowned festival for contemporary music. Leaving the festival in 2003, he subsequently established the Swarovski 'Musik im Riesen' Festival in Wattens, Austria which he still runs.
