Bogdan Vacarescu is a Romanian concert violinist who has toured internationally as a soloist and chamber musician in halls such as Athenaeum in Bucharest, Sydney Opera House and The U.N. Concert Hall in New York. He has performed under conductors including Daisuke Soga and Ilarion Galati and recorded for Oscar winners Stephen Warbeck and Gabriel Yared. Inspired by Auer, Heifetz and Enescu, his virtuosic recitals revive lost treasures of the violin repertoire by both well-known and forgotten composers. The present band was brought to life by Dr John Coope in the 1960's. The band has progressed steadily through the sections since they first gained promotion from the fourth section to the third in 1988. From 2012 onwards the band will be competing against the likes of Fairey's and Foden's and other well known bands often regarded as the finest in the world. Bollington also has an active "B" band with members of all ages performing many concerts throughout the year. Bollington rehearse on Monday and Thursday evenings 8-10pm.
