Banff International String Quartet Competition
The 14th Banff International String Quartet Competition, which occurs triennially in Banff, Alberta, Canada, will take place Aug. 29-Sept.4, 2022. Submissions open Oct. 2021. Open to string quartets whose members are under the age of 35. 1st Place: $25,000 CAD, Winner’s Concert Tours in Europe & NA, Banff Centre residency, CD recording, Southern Methodist University residency valued at over $200,000 CAD, Esterházy Foundation Residency. 2nd Place: $12,000 Banff Centre residency. 3rd Place: $8,000 Banff Centre residency. 7 quartets not advancing to the finals will receive a $5,000 CAD prize.

BBC Young Musician
Eligibility: open to UK residents aged 18 and under with grade 8 (or equivalent). Prizes: Category winners: £1,000 plus a place in the semi-final. Winner of BBC Young Musician: £3,000 plus a specially-commissioned trophy. The Walter Todds Bursary (totalling £1000) is also awarded to the performer or performers who show great promise but do not reach the final. Entry fees: free. Besancon International Competition for Young Conductors
2025. Registration: 16>23 January. Preliminaries (Seoul, Montreal, Berlin, Paris, Besançon): Spring. Final rounds: 22>27 September. Established in 1951 by the Besançon Festival, the Besançon Conducting Competition is the most complete in the world with a repertoire which spans classical, Romantic, 20th century, and contemporary music, as well as symphony, opera and concerto. The Competition is open to all artists under 35 who wish to become professional conductors, whatever their training or their experience. It is the only Competition where all candidates are selected during live auditions.
