13th Banff International String Quartet Competition occurs triennially in Banff, Alberta, Canada August 26-September 1, 2019. Submissions open October 1, 2018 - March 1, 2019. Open to string quartets of all nationalities whose members are under the age of 35 on August 26, 2019. Prizes (CAD): 1st Prize worth over $3000,000 (cash prize; recital tours of North America & Europe; paid residency at SMU Meadows; Banff Centre residency; CD recording). 2nd & 3rd Place Prizes ($12,000 & $8,000 plus a Banff Centre residency). Quartets not advancing to finals each receive a $4,000 award.

The Young Artists Program, founded by Pinchas Zukerman in 1999, offered outstanding private instruction and chamber music coaching with additional career-related sessions and mentoring as well as performance opportunities including public chamber music concerts, public masterclasses, closed works-in-progress sessions and recitals. The program is no longer being offered. 2019 was the last edition of the YAP.
