Music appreciation course with Roy Stratford. The string quartet has entranced many great composers from Haydn through to the present day, resulting in a succession of masterful works by Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Bartok and Shostakovich (amongst many others). Explore how the string quartet has adapted to changing musical styles and become a significant and fertile chamber music combination. The course includes a violin and piano recital on Saturday 1st February, 8pm
