The double bass, harp and viola schemes provide free tuition for talented musicians in order to encourage take-up on these lesser-played instruments.

The 8th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musician is organized by the Association of Tchaikovsky Competition Stars, the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Russian Gnesins Academy of Music and the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory.
Opening Ceremony, Third round, Awards Ceremony and Closing Ceremony of the Competition will be held at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Finalists will perform with a symphony orchestra.
