The dynamic ensemble Brecon Baroque was founded in 2007 by violinist Rachel Podger as resident ensemble at her annual Brecon Baroque Festival. Brecon Baroque specialises in the music of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries, mostly as a one-to-a-part ensemble based on the Cafe Zimmerman ensemble which Bach himself directed. They also appear as a small baroque orchestra for Vivaldi, Telemann, Purcell and Handel.

Named after the composer Frank Bridge, this established quartet is most noted for their performances and numerous highly commended 5 star recordings of English music; most recently for EMR of Gurney song cycles with singers Charles Daniels and Roderick Williams. They perform regularly with pianist Michael Dussek. Uniquely their leader is also a composer and has written commissions for CBSO. They run many dynamic amateur chamber music courses and the Bridge Initiative Trust ( Charity reg 1133156) helps finance various performing and educational projects.
