One of the outstanding cellists of his generation, Robert Irvine has played for the Philharmonia, the Britten Pears Orchestra, Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, Scottish Opera Orchestra and formed the Brindisi String Quartet, and the Da Vinci Piano Trio and founded the Chamber Group of Scotland with Sally Beamish and James MacMillan. He is artistic director of the Red Note Ensemble which specialises in contemporary repertoire, and has a busy schedule of projects throughout the UK and Europe.

Robert Max has performed concertos and given recitals throughout the UK and in Europe, Russia and the USA. He is the principal cellist of the London Chamber Orchestra and has been the cellist of the Barbican Piano Trio for thirty years. Robert has taught at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music since 1992, coaches chamber music at MusicWorks and is the Artistic Director of the Frinton Festival. He is also President of the North London Music Festival and a member of the International Board of Governors of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
