German soprano Gun-Brit Barkmin has created thrilling character portraits performing leading roles in operas by Janáček, Britten, Berg, Wagner and Richard Strauss. Ms. Barkmin starts the 2014-15 season with her debut at the BBC Proms as Chrysothemis in a concert performance of Elektra conducted by Semyon Bychkov before returing to Prague to sing the title role in Salome at The State Opera in a new production by Mariusz Trelinski.
Welsh soprano Gwawr Edwards' current engagements include MELPOMENE Gluck's Il parnaso confuso and Bertoni's Orfeo Bampton Classical Opera, SOLOIST Mozart’s Requiem City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, as well as multiple concerts with Welsh radio and television. She recently toured with Bryn Terfel throughout the UK in venues such as Birmingham Symphony Hall, St David’s Hall in Cardiff, the Royal Festival Hall in London and Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

A graduate of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House in 2013, Polish mezzo-soprano Hanna Hipp has been described as a singer who “lights up the stage” (Opera Britannia). Ms. Hipp starts the 2014-15 season singing Ramiro in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera with Glyndebourne On Tour and then takes the stage at Teatr Wielki in Warsaw as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly in a production by Mariusz Treliński. She makes her house debut at the Teatro alla Scala as Mercédès in Georges Bizet’s Carmen under Massimo Zanetti.
