Internationally celebrated, Eric Halfvarson is one of today’s foremost interpreters of many of the darkest Verdi and Wagner roles. He is a regular guest artist in many of the world’s foremost opera houses from Vienna, Bayreuth, Munich and London to New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The current season is no exception. Mr. Halfvarson returns to the Vienna State Opera to reprise his acclaimed portrayal of the Grand Inquisitor in Verdi’s Don Carlo.
Bass-baritone Eric Owens has a unique reputation as an esteemed interpreter of classic works and a champion of new music. Equally at home in orchestral, recital, and operatic performances, Mr. Owens brings his powerful poise, expansive voice, and instinctive acting faculties to stages around the world. Mr. Owens begins his 2014-2015 season by rejoining Sir Simon Rattle, Peter Sellars, and the Berlin Philharmonic for highly anticipated performances of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion at the Lucerne Festival.
Winner of the London Handel Competition, South African soprano Erica Eloff is building a reputation as operatic, concert and recital performer. Her wide-ranging repertoire extends from Handel, Mozart, Britten, and to contemporary composers for whom she has given many world premieres. Most recent and future engagements include Mahler 2nd Symphony and Mendelssohn’s Elijah Barbican Centre, Tippet’s A Child of our Time Southbank Centre, Handel’s Catone in Utica London Handel Festival.
