Founded in 1977, OPMS is one of Oxford's premier choirs. Repertoire is very eclectic and the choir is equally at home with both Tavener and Taverner, and with Palestrina, Bach, Schnittke and Rachmaninov. Not forgetting Gershwin and Cole Porter and arrangements of 'standards' along the way! Performs 5-8 concerts per year.

Professional chorus dedicated to working with the Philharmonia Orchestra on a wide range of projects. (NB this is a separate entity from the Philharmonia Chorus and its associated Young Professional Scheme). Founded in 2004 by its director Aidan Oliver, the choir has collaborated on a huge range of repertoire with conductors including Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Lorin Maazel, Richard Hickox and John Wilson.

The inaugural competition of July 2019 was for brass quintet (two trumpets, one horn, trombone, tuba) and was open to players aged between 16 and 30. The aim of this competition is to bring together young brass quintets and showcase excellence and enterprise in brass chamber music performance, building on the legacy of Philip Jones CBE (1928-2000).

Operated as a registered charity independent of the University, Philomusica is conducted by the Aberystwyth Music Centre's Director of Music, Dr David Russell Hulme. Two concerts are presented each year in the Aberystwyth Arts Centre. The repertoire is largely Romantic and twentieth century; but the orchestra also explores lesser-known music, especially by British composers. Prospective new players are given a trial and a permanent place is offered subject to a suitable vacancy being available. Anyone interested in joining should contact the Director of Music or come to the first rehearsal.
