In 2009 Maestro Peter Feranec was appointed as a new principal conductor and music director at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St.Petersburg. In 1995 Peter Feranec was also appointed the principal conductor at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow - which made him the first foreign-born principal conductor (and also the youngest one ). At the this theatre he led various new productions: Lucia di Lammermoor, La Boheme, La Traviata ( Season 1995/96 ), Pique Dame, Aida (1996/97), Love for three Oranges (1997/98) with Sir Peter Ustinov as stage-director and other 18 operatic tittles from Bolshoi repertoire.

In addition he conducted performances of music by Gershwin with Jean-Yves Thibaudet for the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini and will work again with them in their 2012-2013 season.
