In 2009 Maestro Peter Feranec was appointed as a new principal conductor and music director at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St.Petersburg. In 1995 Peter Feranec was also appointed the principal conductor at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow - which made him the first foreign-born principal conductor (and also the youngest one ). At the this theatre he led various new productions: Lucia di Lammermoor, La Boheme, La Traviata ( Season 1995/96 ), Pique Dame, Aida (1996/97), Love for three Oranges (1997/98) with Sir Peter Ustinov as stage-director and other 18 operatic tittles from Bolshoi repertoire.

Recent credits include a highly successful Italian debut conducting Pier Luigi Pizzi’s new production of Ades’ Powder her Face at Teatro Comunale di Bologna and at the Lugo Festival, returning to Italy to conduct further performances with La Fenice in Venice. In addition he conducted performances of music by Gershwin with Jean-Yves Thibaudet for the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini and will work again with them in their 2012-2013 season.
