Throughout its history, the Orchestra has played an integral part in Scotland’s musical life, including performing at the opening ceremony of the Scottish Parliament building in 2004. The Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin (RSB) dates back to the first hour of musical broadcasting by Deutscher Rundfunk in October 1923. Since then it has been able to develop its position enduringly as one of Berlin's top orchestras, and in the highest echelon of German radio orchestras. In September 2017 Vladimir Jurowski became principal conductor and musical director of the RSB. Marek Janowski was musical director of the RSB before him, from 2002 to 2015, leading it highly successfully in symphonic concerts and concertante opera performances.

Founded in 1963 by Nicholas Braithwaite, Salomon Orchestra is one of London’s finest and friendliest non-professional orchestras. Performing symphonic repertoire from the late nineteenth century to the present day in three London concerts at St John’s Smith Square, and two choral engagements each season. Recent conductors include our President Martyn Brabbins, Graham Ross, Rebecca Miller and many others. Our rehearsals take place in the 2 to 3 weeks before a concert.
