Joensuu City Orchestra with its 35 musicians is an energetic ensemble with a varied repertoire. In a year the orchestra gives about seventy concerts, of which a third are symphonic concerts. The repertoire also consists of baroque, church, chamber and entertainment concerts, and concerts for children and young persons. The orchestra regularly pays visits to the schools, local senior centers and other such institutions. The orchestra performs regularly also in various festivals.

2014-15 marks the fourth season of Julia Fischer appearing with her own quartet. The Julia Fischer Quartet unites Ms. Fischer with three renowned musicians, each soloists in their own right: violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, violinist Nils Mönkemeyer and cellist Benjamin Nyffenegger. These four artists have performed chamber music jointly in different configurations for multiple years. The idea to establish a string quartet was born in 2010, when all four musicians acquired a broad repertoire during Julia Fischer's festival at Lake Starnberg.
