AGO/ECS Publishing Award in Choral Composition
Eligibility: Any age or nationality. Requirements: Ordinarily, the competition will call for proposals for the commission of a work for SATB chorus and organ in which the organ plays a distinct and significant role. There will be an online application for the 2022 award that is available from April 1 through June 30, 2020 on the AGO website. Prizes: 1st prize $2000 and publication by ECS Publishing. Prizes: $2000 and publication of the piece. Piece is premiered at the Guild's biennial national convention in July of even-numbered years (2022). Frequency: Biennial.

AGO/Marilyn Mason Award in Organ Composition
2020: Eligibility: Open to all composers regardless of age or citizenship. Requirements: The competition will ordinarily call for a proposal for the commission of a solo organ work. Requirements for any individual cycle are usually announced in the April issue of TAO magazine and the Guild's website in even-numbered years. There is an online application for the 2022 award that is available from April 1 through June 30, 2020. Prizes: 1st prize $2000 and publication by Fred Bock Music. The piece is premiered in July of even-numbered years at the Guild's biennial convention. Frequency: Biennial.

ALEA III International Composition Prize
Aims to promote and encourage the creation of new music by young professional comps of all nationalities. Eligibility: Open to comps of any nationality, born after 1 Jan 1973. Unperformed and unpublished works of all styles. Requirements: Works for solo voice, instrument or ens (up to 15 players; see website for available instruments). One score per comp; works must be unpublished and must not have been publicly performed or broadcast before announcement of the prize. Application form required, available from website. Barlow Prize
Eligibility: No restrictions with regard to musical style, nationality, age, gender, race, religion, or political persuasion. Requirements: Full details on website. Prizes: The winning composer will receive a $15,000 commission from the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition at Brigham Young University to compose a major new work for solo guitar (nylon strings) to be premiered in 2025 or later. British Composer Awards
The British Composer Awards are unique in making contemporary music, jazz and sonic art the focus of their annual celebration. Created by BASCA in 2003, the British Composer Awards promote the art of composition, recognise the creative talent of composers and sound artists, and bring their music to a wider audience. To qualify works must have received a UK premiere performance - either live or broadcast - in the year leading up to 31 March. The Call for Nominations opens each May and closes the first week in July.
