A thrilling meeting of global musical traditions and contemporary jazz at Lauderdale House. Acclaimed alto saxophonist Martin Speake’s Charukesi draws on Indian, Arabic, Turkish, African and jazz traditions to create direct, groove-based music with compelling melodies, impassioned soloing and a distinctive musical voice shaped over three decades.

The Oxley-Meier Guitar Project, formed by guitarists Pete Oxley and Nicolas Meier, is a unique band (with Andy Hamill & Paul Cavaciuti) that successfully melds contemporary jazz with ‘world-music’. They together create a huge variety of textures and soundscapes, from Middle Eastern influenced music to raucous Brazilian-inspired sambas, using an unusual range of guitars between them.
